My Review
We purchased a Memphis Pro about a year ago and it has wonderful experience. Wood fire grilled food just tastes better! Smoking meats is so easy and fun, it has sparked a lot of creativity in my cooking.
Pros - The food grilled on a wood pellet grill is delicious. Boring chicken breast gets compliments from picky teenagers! Take and bake pizzas are transformed into a gourmet treat from a west coast pizza kitchen.
I can literally say that the smoker has changed my life. Last Friday, I smoked a brisket for my poker buddies. I smoked an eight pound brisket for 13 hours at 200 degrees. Do you know how easy it was? Set smoker. Add meat. Go to work. Come home from work. Check meat temperature. Serve to hungry friends.
Cons- Buy a cover from the manufacturer. Rain and snow can enter via the vents and fill the burn pot with water. Cover = No problems.
Wood pellets are not available everywhere (like gas) so you need to keep a supply around for those busy summer weekends.
Grilling food will take longer than a gas grill. Longer to heat up. Longer to cook the food. Almost twice as long. The food is also twice as good. Why are you in such a rush?
Grilled veggies don't cook as well as gas grill. Asparagus, onions and peppers get too soft compared to the direct heat of gas.
