Expensive but worth it..August 13, 2009
I purchased the A540 for my husband as a twenty year anniversary gift. (We both consider ourselves to be foodies.) After researching Lynx, Viking, Kalamazoo and other high end brands, I found the Fire Magic brand to offer the best value for the money and yes, isn't cheap. You get what you pay for, though. My husband was buying a new bbq every 2 or 3 years because they just wear out and often the parts are not available, especially if you buy it at Costco or similar discounter, where employees aren't trained to answer questions about the grill. This grill gets REALLY hot so you get a great sear on steaks. We use the rotisserie for prime rib on the weekends. I read the other review posted and think ANY grill can burn food--perhaps they're not used to a grill with this type of heat. Everything about this bbq says quality-from the stainless burners with a lifetime warranty to the heavy hood that is solid and doesn't wiggle like the ones at Home Depot and Costco. My husband is a techie kind of a guy who researches EVERYTHING. We went to 5 or 6 specialty bbq/patio stores to check out most of the brands, and after doing so, went back to Lowe's and Home Depot just for comparison. No comparison at all! We decided on the Fire Magic 540. Yes, it was pricey but we look at it as an investment in our home--plus the guys in the neighborhood drool over it. He now refers to himself at the Grill Guru.
