Veggie Mushroom Burgers

By Derrick Riches, About.com

The great thing about portobello mushrooms is that when you grill them they taste similar to beef. If you trim these mushrooms to bun size you'll have a great low fat burger.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 6 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 4 portobello mushroom caps
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 5 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme

Preparation:

Mix olive oil, vinegar, garlic and thyme together. Place mushrooms in a large resealable bag in a single layer. Pour mixture over mushrooms and press out as much air as possible. Seal bag. Let sit at room temperature for 2 hours. Preheat grill. Grill mushrooms over a medium heat for 2-3 minutes on each side. Serve with your favorite hamburger fixings.
