Herb Rotisserie Turkey

By Derrick Riches, About.com

Next time you decide to roast a turkey, try it rotisserie style on the grill. This is a simple, easy to follow, delicious recipe for beginners.

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 3 hours, 00 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 12-16 pound turkey
  • 1 stick of butter, melted
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon of parsley
  • 1 teaspoon fresh or dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Preparation:

Rinse turkey with cold water and pat dry. Tie the legs and wings securely. To prepare grill, remove grate and place a drip pan in the center. The pan should be big enough to hold the turkey by itself. Light grill and let it heat up. If using a charcoal grill make a medium fire around the drip pan. With gas turn the burners to medium. But generally follow the manufacturers instructions. Half fill the drip pan with water and place the turkey on rotisserie. Baste turkey with butter herb mixture every 20 minutes while cooking. Remove turkey from the grill after 3-4 hours or when the internal temperature reaches 185 degrees.
