Barbecue Turkey Legs

User Rating 5 Star Rating (1 Review)

These tasty turkey legs are slow grilled to perfection and basted in a classic tomato-based barbecue sauce. They are great for any occasion, such as a family dinner or even tailgating.

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 45 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour, 5 minutes

Yield: Serves 6

  • 6 turkey legs
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup celery, finely chopped
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 8 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Sauté onion and celery in butter until soft. Add everything else except the turkey legs. Mix well and remove from heat. Place turkey legs on a preheated grill over a medium hot fire. Grill, covered for about 30 to 45 minutes or until nearly done. Turn occasionally. When drumsticks are close to being done, begin basting with sauce. Watch out for burning. If you boil the remaining sauce after you're finished basting you can serve it on the side.

Make again, Member nicoli21

I made my own BBQ sauce, it was close to what they gave directions to. I also put a dry rub on legs. I did follow the directions on how to grill. The grilling was to perfection. The whole family loved them. This isn't always so easy very picky bunch. Will be doing this again soon.
