This classic Italian dish places together a grilled steak, grilled tomatoes, and a load of herbs. Sure to be a favorite.

Yield: Serves 4 to 6
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 pound sirloin steaks
- 4 plum tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh oregano, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
Preparation:
Trim excess fat from steaks. Preheat grill. Brush steaks with 1 tablespoon of oil. Cut tomatoes in half. Grill tomatoes cut side down until they have good grill marks. Remove from grill and remove skin. Place steaks on grill. While the steaks are cooking place tomatoes and remaining ingredients (including 1 tablespoon of olive oil) in a saucepan. Crush tomatoes with a fork and mix everything together over medium low heat. Let simmer. Remove steaks from grill when they have reached desired doneness. Remove from grill and cut cross grain into narrow strips. Add steak strips to sauce and simmer on low for 10 minutes. Serve alone or over pasta.
