Spicy Flank Steak

By Derrick Riches, About.com

If you love spicy food, you'll love this Asian style flank steak. If you're not too keen on the spice, you can always omit the red pepper flakes and reduce the amount of chili oil the recipe calls for.

Prep Time: 13 minutes

Cook Time: 12 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds flank steak
  • 1/3 cup red wine
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lime zest
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional

Preparation:

Place flank steak in a shallow glass dish. Combine remaining ingredients and pour onto steak. Cover dish and allow to marinate in refrigerator for 2-8 hours. Preheat grill for medium heat. Remove meat from dish, reserving marinade. Place steak onto grill and brush liberally with marinade. Cook for 5 minutes, turn, brush with marinade again and cook for additional 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and serve.
