Making the Masa Dough

The masa dough is basically three things, masa flour, lard (or shortening) and water. I prefer to use chicken stock verses water, but the choice is up to you.

Combine two cups of masa flour with 1 teaspoon of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Mix together. Now slowly pour in two cups of luke warm chicken broth and mix into a sticky dough.
