The basic meatball sandwich usually contains 3-4, meatballs in a bun or roll, shlathered in marinara sauce and nestled on cheese. Of course, these sandwiches can be constructed to your liking, but that's how I make them. When it comes to meatballs you'll want them to hold together on the grill (skewered in groups) and be full of flavor. Avoid using chopped onions, garlic or fresh herbs may cause your meatballs to break apart. Each meatball should be between 1 1/2 inches and 2 inches in diameter. This is not only a good size for sandwiches, but also large enough to work with.
Start this process by soaking bamboo skewers in water. You can use any length of skewer but shorter ones are easier to work with.
