Grilled Candied Yams

By Derrick Riches, About.com

This is a simple candied yam recipe that you can make during the holidays or anytime you feel like eating them. Steaming them before grilling cuts down the actual grill.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 large yams
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Preparation:

Cut yams into 1 inch oval shaped slices. Place on a vegetable steamer and allow to steam for 15-18 minutes. Preheat grill for medium heat. Place pieces on an oiled grill grate. Cook for about 7 minutes per side or until caramelized. Once tender and golden, remove from grill, place on platter, and sprinkle with lemon juice and brown sugar.
