Enlivened by the open flame, these grilled avocados are creamy and delicious. A perfect starter to any meal, they can also fill the role of side dish. Make sure to keep a close eye while on the grill. You want light charring and nothing more.

Yield: Serves 6 or 12
Ingredients:
- 6 large avocados, cut in half lengthwise, with pits removed
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- juice of 1 lime
- kosher salt
- For salsa:
- 1 1/2 cups lump crab, fresh or canned
- juice of 1 lime
- 1/4 cup red onion, chopped
- 1 tomato, seeded and chopped
- 1 jalapeno, seeded and chopped
- 3 tablespoons cilantro, chopped
Preparation:
In medium bowl, combine all salsa ingredients and place in fridge. Preheat grill for medium-high heat. Cut avocados lengthwise and remove pits. Combine olive oil and lime juice in a small bowl. Brush mixture onto each avocado, sprinkle with salt and place onto grill, flesh side down. Cook for exactly one minute. When avocados have obtained a nice grill mark pattern on them, remove heat and place onto a platter. Spoon crab salsa into space where pit used to be, and serve.
