Grilled Avocados with Crab Salsa

Regarding BBQ, Inc.
Enlivened by the open flame, these grilled avocados are creamy and delicious. A perfect starter to any meal, they can also fill the role of side dish. Make sure to keep a close eye while on the grill. You want light charring and nothing more.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 1 minute

Total Time: 11 minutes

Yield: Serves 6 or 12

Ingredients:

  • 6 large avocados, cut in half lengthwise, with pits removed
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • juice of 1 lime
  • kosher salt
  • For salsa:
  • 1 1/2 cups lump crab, fresh or canned
  • juice of 1 lime
  • 1/4 cup red onion, chopped
  • 1 tomato, seeded and chopped
  • 1 jalapeno, seeded and chopped
  • 3 tablespoons cilantro, chopped

Preparation:

In medium bowl, combine all salsa ingredients and place in fridge. Preheat grill for medium-high heat. Cut avocados lengthwise and remove pits. Combine olive oil and lime juice in a small bowl. Brush mixture onto each avocado, sprinkle with salt and place onto grill, flesh side down. Cook for exactly one minute. When avocados have obtained a nice grill mark pattern on them, remove heat and place onto a platter. Spoon crab salsa into space where pit used to be, and serve.
