Seattle Salmon Burgers


These burgers are made with salmon cakes. You need to be very careful when grilling them so they don't fall apart. Make sure you oil your cooking grate very well to prevent sticking.

Prep Time: 25 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 35 minutes

Yield: Makes 8 Salmon Burgers


  • 1 1/4 pounds of salmon fillet, diced into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, preferably plain
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 green onions
  • 3 tablespoons fresh flat leaf parsley
  • 2 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • olive oil
  • 8 tomato slices
  • 8 pieces of lettuce
  • 8 rolls or buns


Preheat grill for medium heat. Place salmon, Dijon mustard, and green onions into food processor. Blend until mixture is coarsely chopped. Transfer to a large bowl and blend in remaining ingredients. Shape 8 patties out of mixture. They should be 1/2 an inch thick. Brush with olive oil and place on the grill. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side being very careful when turning. Place patties on buns top with a piece of lettuce and a tomato slice. Serve.
