Spare Rib Rub
This is a sweet and savory rub works well on pork ribs. You can adjust the heat by changing the amount of cayenne. This Recipe was posted to the Forum by BBQ Guru.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 30 minutes

Yield: Makes about 2 cups


  • 1 cup brown sugar, dark
  • 1/2 cup paprika
  • 2 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon white pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder


Combine all ingredients. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place.

Awesome rub, Member kelleyal1

This is a very very good rub. I would just reduce the amount of cayenne to half because it is a little bit hot. The amount of salt is a bit much too when combined with all the other ingredients. And, the amount of rub created for this recipe is too much so be careful not to put too much rub on the ribs or pork. But all in all a very good rub even with or without bbq sauce.
