Spicy Sweet Ribs

By Derrick Riches, About.com

These ribs are a shortcut for those of you who don't have a smoker or the time to smoke ribs. The blanching in boiling water reduces the grilling time and the baste provides added flavor lost during boiling.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3 1/2 pounds pork spareribs
  • juice from 2 oranges
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 3 teaspoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon jalapeno pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • salt and pepper to taste

Preparation:

Blanch ribs in boiling water for 15 minutes. Mix together everything but the ribs in a saucepan over a low heat. Preheat grill. Baste ribs in sauce and place on hot grill. Cook for about 30 minutes depending on the size of the ribs, basting and turning occasionally.
