Pork Ribs Slow Cooker Barbecue

By Derrick Riches, About.com

This slow cooker recipe might not produce authentic barbecue ribs, but you will get tender, great tasting ribs. Remember to drain the fat from the ribs before you start adding the other ingredients.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 8 hours

Ingredients:

  • 4 pounds country style pork ribs
  • 1 8-ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed

Preparation:

Place country style pork ribs in slow cooker or crock-pork. Cook on medium to low for 1 hour. Remove ribs and drain slow cooker. Add all other ingredients to slow cooker and stir until sugar is completely dissolved. Add pork ribs and continue cooking on low for 6 to 8 hours.
