Sesame Pork Tenderloin

By Derrick Riches, About.com

This Asian inspired pork tenderloin is marinated with delicious seasonings; seared and then grilled slow to keep it tender.

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3 pounds pork tenderloin
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons dry sherry
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 5 or 6 green onions, chopped

Preparation:

Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, sesame seeds, sherry and honey. Mix well. Pour into a resealable plastic bag. Add tenderloin and green onions. Seal and refrigerate for 4 to 12 hours. Preheat grill. Remove tenderloin from bag and discard marinade. Place tenderloin on hot grill and sear on all sides (about 1 minute per side). Reduce heat or move to a cooler part of the grill and continue cooking until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees (about 30 to 45 minutes depending on thickness of the meat). Remove from grill and slice into thin pieces. Serve over rice.

To toast sesame seeds, place them in a hot sauté pan and toss for about 2 to 4 minutes. Be careful not to let them burn.
