These slow
grilled sausages have a great smoky beer flavor from being steamed in beer. I choose a nice stout but most any beer will work. Darker beers add a richer flavor to the sausages. These make a delicious appetizer or the perfect meal while watching the game. After all, what goes better with football than a grilled sausage loaded with beer.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients:
- 12 bratwurst sausages
- 24 ounces beer (I use stout)
- a disposable aluminum pan
Preparation:
Preheat grill and prepare for
indirect grilling. Place aluminum pan over unheated part of grill. Pour beer into pan. Place sausages over the direct heat. The fire should be a medium heat. Close the lid and cook for about 5 minutes. Turn sausages frequently. When the bratwursts start to brown move them into the aluminum pan with the beer. When all the sausages are in the pan close the lid and cook for about 20 more minutes. Serve right out of the pan so that the sausages are hot and juicy. These sausages are great as they are or put them in a bun and eat like a hot dog.
