Rib Baste
This is a great mop for all kinds of ribs (or any pork in general). You get the tenderizing power of the vinegar and a whole lot of flavor from the herbs and spices.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 11 minutes

Total Time: 21 minutes

Yield: Makes about 1 1/2 cups


  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne


Mix all ingredients together and store in the refrigerator. This mop will stay good for about three months refrigerated. Make ahead to allow the flavors to blend.

I don't really think this adds a bunch to the overall flavor to the ribs, but it does a nice job of keeping the meat moist and it is very easy to make. It's okay.
