Capital Performance Series 40-Inch Gas Grill

Capital Performance Series 40-Inch Gas Grill

Capital Cooking Equipment Inc.

The Bottom Line

Capital makes some beautiful grills with great features. This 304 stainless steel beauty features dual W-shaped 25,000 BTU burners, a 25,000 BTU infrared sear burner and a full rotisserie system. The construction on this unit is fantastic with complete seamless welds. If you have the option to take a look at this grill (or other capital units) I fully encourage you to do so. This is a brand that stands up with the best.

Guide Review - Capital Performance Series 40-Inch Gas Grill

Capital Gas Grills was created by the people who created the gas grills for DCS. These units combine all the power and function of DCS grills with new innovations and design. This unit has a distinctive styling built on the foundation of excellent construction.

The cooking system of this grill gives you tremendous power. While the burners are pretty standard tubular stainless steel the heavy stainless steel cooking grates (the same as on DCS grills) give you fantastic heat transfer. In addition these cooking grates are reversible and can be set at an angle to drain grease away from the burners. The high heat output of the burners combined with a finely adjustable infrared sear burner means you can sear steaks while grilling delicate fish fillets.

This particular model is mounted on a cart with a great deal of storage space including two drawers. Like all grills in this price range this grill comes in a variety of mounting options and with several accessory products.

The Best, and I mean the VERY BEST I've ever owned, Member chadwj1

Though the previous reviewer's clearly entitled to give their own opinion and describe their own experiences, I DIAGREE WITH THEM COMPLETELY. So much so, that I actually took the time (time I didn't have to spare), in order to register with About.com, just so I could post my own, very different review. I can't abide with that review being the only opinion of what I consider to be my favorite toys. I bought the 40"" Performance series Capital grill with a cart & castors (not the built in model, though they seem identical except for what they sit on). I bought it from Ken Ax in Manchester, VT and picked it over an identically priced Wolf model. I glad I did too because this thing is built so damn well that I could probably sell it for scrap metal and get my money back - haha (but seriously, you should know that it's VERY heavy). When we left the mountains of Vermont for the plains of Kansas, I watched four movers working in unison, STRUGGLE to lift it down the stairs of my back porch and get it into the moving van (they thought my ""baby"" grand piano was cake after loading my grill). To some, the heft of this thing might be a negative, but to me, it's a characteristic that says this grill is a completely over-built product, designed by some BBQ-loving engineer who would probably bet you his kid's entire inheritance that the thing will last a lifetime! The details, materials and build quality, plus its ease-of-use make it hard to believe this was all for a ""grill"" (seriously?). And even though it's embarrassing to be singing praises and writing so much about a stupid BBQ grill, I have to admit that I love it and think this product is amazing. You can literally disassemble the entire grill (and I mean EVERYTHING) in about 2 minutes. Unbelievable! I'm infatuated with fact that I can strip it down to a stainless steel frame and get it reassembled WITHOUT INSTRUCTIONS and WITHOUT TOOLS. Last week I had my first problem with it since I bought it about 7 years ago. The auto-light switch quit working. I discovered it ran on 9-volt batteries (two of them) but unfortunately, replacing them didn't do the trick. That's actually why I'm here. I went to the web to get Capital's number and saw this. When I did get to the starter electronics/batteries, I was amazed at the super-high build quality of even the electronics even though, ironically, I was only seeing them because they weren't working. I actually made my wife come check the whole thing out because I was so impressed with the engineering and materials. It's one of the finest products I've ever bought, and I don't just mean grill (it's up with my Leica binoculars, CL Benz, Browning shotgun, etc..) Maybe I'm making it sound too good but after reading the review that said it sucked, I felt compelled to post my own opposite impressions. Last thought: That review was so far off from my opinion that the thought crossed my mind that it might even be a bogus review posted by a competitor brand. Really, because my opinion on a Man Cave item can't be that far off base for G's sake! Enjoy and so for ranting. Chad
