Guide Review - Jenn-Air 44,000 BTU Gas Grill
This grill has been discontinued. The nearest Jenn-Air grill would be the Jenn-Air 45,000.If you don't already know, Jenn-Air doesn't make gas grills. They never have. This Jenn-Air is actually made by Vermont Castings and if they sold it under their own name, this grill would be at the bottom of the line for them. This grill is distributed in an exclusive arrangement with Lowe's Hardware and all accessories, extras and service has to be handled through Lowe's.
This really is a good grill for the price. It has good power and a four burner design that will give you a wide range of grilling abilities. While it doesn't offer features like a side burner of rotisserie kit it does the job of grilling very well. Some have measured the maximum internal temperature at nearly 700 degrees F. The heavy cast iron parts including the lid end caps and cooking grates provide good heat retention and great cooking characteristics.
If there is one limiting factor with this grill it's the burners. While the stainless steel burners are good, I think they would have to be a little better to make me think this was a 5 star grill. This is the first year that this model has been produced though Vermont Castings has sold similar grills through Lowe's in the past. We'll have to wait a bit to see how the durability and support factors come into play.
