Thermos Stainless Steel Gas Grill

Thermos Stainless Steel Gas Grill

Thermos Corporation

The Bottom Line

First of all, Thermos doesn't make gas grills, they never have. This is Char-Broil's Terrace Stainless Steel Grill, and last years model at that. This is why the price is so low. This gas grill is a mix of good and bad parts. While the burners and stainless steel will last, the cheap pop-rivets that hold it together rust almost immediately. This grill is also a little low on the BTUs. Also the stainless steel used to make this grill is of the lowest quality.

Pros

  • Three burners for varied grilling
  • Decent BTU output for the size

Cons

  • BTU rating a little low
  • Only partial stainless steel construction
  • Low quality construction
  • 400 series stainless steel

Guide Review - Thermos Stainless Steel Gas Grill

This Grill has been discontinued. It is replaced by the Thermos Stainless Steel Gas Grill.

Gas grills are lasting longer these days and the Thermos Gas grill, made by Char-Broil will certainly outlast previous models. The porcelain coated cast iron burners are guaranteed for 10 years. The Stainless steel has a warranty of 99 years. Everything else however, is only guaranteed for two years. This grill was made to look good, but the overall construction leaves a little to be desired.

On the cooking side, this unit has three independently controlled burners that give you good control over your grilling. Both multi-level heat zones and indirect grilling work well with this unit. The bar type burners give a more even heating that lower end grills. I would like to see a little more power out of the burners but only by about 4,000 BTUs, so it's pretty close. The 10,000 BTU side burner is powerful enough and the stainless steel cover will help keep it in working order. Some variations of this model do not come with a side burner so make sure you look for it when purchasing.

I have received reports of gas leaks from some owners. While I consider this to be a serious problem some manufacturers don't. If you look at the cart on this grill, you'll notice some large open areas. These are designed to allow air flow through the enclosed cart. This prevents leaking gas from building up and causing an explosion. While I don't know how wide spread this problem is, I'm not very enthusiastic about it.
