Guide Review - Weber Summit Gold A4 Gas Grill Review
This model has been discontinued. It has been replaced by the Weber Summit S-420For well over a $1,000USD you can get a grill with a large side burner, full rotisserie system including infrared burner, total stainless steel construction, very large cooking space and an attractive fully enclosed cabinet, or you can get a Weber. This is probably the number one grill on the opposite end of the spectrum. This Weber is a basic unit with no extra features and it costs more than $1,000. However, it has great construction, an excellent warranty, 24/7 support from the manufacturer, and great cooking characteristics. It is a quality versus feature argument. If you want a great grill (that will certainly last you the next 10 years) this is the unit for you. If you want tons of features go somewhere else.
The Weber Summit Gold A4 represents the bottom of the Summit line of grills from Weber. With this grill you get 44,000 BTUs under a primary cooking area of 504 square inches. While this is a little low on the BTUs, Weber's excellent design puts that heat where you need it. In fact this grill will hit temperatures over 600 degrees F., if you give it a good warm up time and the wind isn't too strong. There is plenty of heat to sear practically anything.
What you don't get with this unit is a lot of features. No side burner or rotisserie burner. However, if you want a high quality grill that will last for many years and do a great job, this is an excellent unit.
