Master Forge 4-Burner Gas Grill GGP-2601

Lowes

The Bottom Line

Master Forge is the new Lowes Brand of grills made by various Chinese companies. This $299USD grill is loaded with features including a side burner on each side table (one standard, one infrared). There is also four main burners and a rear mounted infrared rotisserie burners. This is a lot of grill for a reasonable price and as is typical with many grills like this one, thin materials and cheap components. While better than many of the big box brand grills this unit does have its limitations and may suffer from many of the durability and support issues of similar grills.

Pros

  • Loaded with features
  • 304 stainless steel burners

Cons

  • Lightweight internal components
  • Over sized side table covers are awkward and obstruct rotisserie system
  • Comes with a standard rotisserie burner, but rotisserie kit is optional
  • Long term support is an unknown

Guide Review - Master Forge 4-Burner Model #GGP-2601 - Discontinued

This model has been discontinued. It is replaced by the Master Forge 4-Burner Gas Grill Model #P3018.

This grill is loaded features including a standard side burner, infrared side burner and a rear mounted infrared rotisserie burner (rotisserie kit not included), all for under $400USD. As part of the new Master Forge brand at Lowes this grill is produced by relative newcomer Geo Global Partners (an importing firm). As of right now there is no online presence for this company and support is something of an unknown.

There are a couple of problems with this grill that standout as minor issues. First of all the full side table covers that sit over the two side burners can be blocked by the installation of a generic rotisserie kit (the one recommended for this unit). These drop back covers are flimsy and not terribly well attached. While this may not be a major issue it certainly can be an inconvenience.

Another issue is the type of infrared burners that this grill uses for the right side burner (sear burner) and the rotisserie burner. These are basically standard burners behind a metal mesh. You might call this kind of infrared. The issue I see is with the sear burner. Once this mesh gets exposed to corrosive agents like a marinade it will begin to deteriorate. This will lead to uneven heat and flareup issues.

These are largely design issues and may not cause you any grief. On the other hand this grill is loaded with lightweight components and though the four main tubular burners are good quality stainless steel, they are lightweight.

It is my belief that most owners of this grill will find issues with the long term durability of the many features and components.
