Master Forge 5-Burner Stainless Steel Model# 3218LTN

Lowes Home Improvement

The Bottom Line

This large attractive grill has some features that I like. The fold out workspace is big, but won't get in your way when you are not using it. You get all the features you could want on a gas grill including infrared rotisserie and side burners. The heat output is high, but then again the vent in the back is really big so it has to be. Additionally you get a pull out propane tank drawer for easy refueling, internal halogen lights for night grilling, and a towel hanger (yes, that is a listed feature). Everything you could want in a large, shiny gas grill for around $600USD. What you don't get is a lot of quality.

  • Large, full featured gas grill
  • Large, fold out workspace
  • High heat output

  • Comes with rotisserie burner, but rotisserie kit sold separately
  • Low grade stainless steel construction
  • Lightweight, poor quality internal components
  • Limited customer support

  • Five 12,000 BTU 430 stainless steel burners
  • 576 square inches of primary grilling area for a total cooking area of 787 square inches
  • 60,000 BTU maximum output from the main burners
  • 12,000 BTU ceramic infrared side burner under a flush mounted cover
  • 13,000 BTU rear mounted ceramic infrared rotisserie burner
  • Stainless steel cooking grates
  • Constructed of 430 stainless steel and enameled steel body parts
  • Internal Halogen lights, dual layer hood, and fold out side table workspace
  • Propane tank, rotisserie kit, and cover sold separately
  • Made in China by Geo-Global Partners exclusively for Lowes' Master Forge Brand

Guide Review - Master Forge 5-Burner Stainless Steel Model# 3218LTN - Discontinued

This model has been discontinued.

This impressive grill is packed full of features. The five burner design will have you adjusting knobs all day and the infrared side burner can be used for searing steaks or heating a pot of water. The rear mounted, infrared rotisserie burner will make you go back to Lowes to buy a rotisserie kit (since it doesn't come standard with the grill). The fold up side table gives you plenty of room for preparing food, or just as an extra table. You get a slide out propane tank drawer to help your back. And you get internal lights and lighted control knobs for grilling in the dark. All this for the low, low price of $600USD. Really an impressive offer.

The high BTU output of the main burners makes you think that this grill is big and powerful. Unfortunately the BTUs are really a marketing effort, not a feature. To keep the grill from getting too hot (or actually hot enough) they include, at no extra cost, a large vent in the back of the grill to let heat out so that the hood of this grill doesn't discolor (even though it is a dual layer hood).

So what is the problem with this grill? Even at $600USD it is too much grill for the price. Quality has been cut back to give you this deal and that means that this grill will not last as long as a grill of this price should.

Grill doesn't heat up enough on Natural Gas., Member ksquin

I purchased this grill and the natural gas conversion kit. After installing the proper size oriface (1.37) on the main burners, following all instruction for air shutter and valve adjustments, the grill maxes out at 400 degrees. Very disappointing! Master Forge technical support walked me through all the steps for the conversion, so I know everything was installed correctly. My previous grill, on the same natural gas line had no trouble getting up to 550 plus within 15 minutes. So, I'm ruling out low gas pressure based on that. The blue flame emitting from the stainless steel burners seem on the small side to me, but I'm not familiar with what they should look like. Master Forge technical support said they've helped me all they can and told me to return the grill to Lowes. I'm really disappointed because I really like the grill, I just want it hotter. Another big minus, There are a tremendous amount of vents on the sides and back of the grill cart, I don't know why they felt this was needed. I left it uncovered in the rain, which I tend to do rather often, and the inside was soaked. The grease catchers under the main burner and the sear burner filled with water, and water pooled on the interior shelf and floor of the cart. Covering the grill is mandatory if you want to keep the inside dry. I'm just speculating, but the excess amount of venting may be the reason this grill doesn't get hot enough. On the positives, I like the look, the stainless steel and enamel finish looks and feels durable. It passes the magnet test, I'm pretty sure it's 304 stainless. The knobs are well made, no plastic parts, igniter works well, the grates are heavy duty. The interior lights are bright, and the side table is large and useful. I spent months searching for a grill, did a lot of research, and was willing to pay as much as $1500 to get the features that this grill has. For $600 this is a bargain price. However, Master Forge needs to modify this design before I recommend it to anyone. If someone has a safe and viable solution to getting the temperature hotter, please comment. I'd like to keep this grill, but temperature is a huge issue, that's why I gave it two stars.
