Master Forge 4-Burner Silver Gas Grill Model# 2518-3

Master Forge 4-Burner Silver Gas Grill Model# 2518-3

Lowes Home Improvement

The Bottom Line

This is one of the grills I dislike the most. Large, full of features, and all stainless steel. Unfortunately the stainless steel is the lowest grade you can buy. This is a lightweight, thin grill that simply isn't designed to last. While it looks big and shiny on the it won't stay looking like that. While the burners are okay, nothing else on this grill is. This grill was designed to sell to people who do little research and don't look carefully at what they are buying. One the up side, the BTU output of the main burners and side burner is high. This grill will heat up quickly.

Guide Review - Master Forge 4-Burner Silver Gas Grill Model# 2518-3

This model has been discontinued. This grill is replaced by the Master Forge 4-Burner Model# 97709.

For around $380USD you get a big, 4-burner gas grill with a powerful side burner, wrapped entirely in shiny stainless steel. What you also get is the lowest grade of stainless steel you can buy that still looks shiny. So while this gas grill will look great on the showroom floor (as long as they are not storing them outside in the rain). I suggest that you take a picture of this grill when you buy it (and assemble it) and then compare it a few months later. I promise, you will notice a big difference.

The one interesting factor with this grill is the power. The main burners put out a lot of heat and even the side burner is more powerful than most. This sounds like a good idea and while this grill can heat up quickly and even reach high temperatures, the truth is that the manufacturer is over compensating for an inefficient design. The main burners need this extra power because the thin materials won't hold in heat.

All I can say about this grill is, don't buy it. If you did buy it, I'm sorry. I'll see you again in a year or two.

This Grill Can Get Too Hot Very Fast, Member IMZ14U2C

I have this identical grill that was labelled as a Perfect Flame model before Lowes changed its in-house brand to Master Forge. I've had it 3 or 4 years. On July 4, my wife, following a bbq recipe, asked me to turn all 4 burners on high for about 15 minutes to begin heating up a tinfoil tray filled with some wood chips that had been soaking in water for an hour or so. I had never turned this grill on with all burners on high before, so I went back out about 10 or so minutes later. What I discovered was that the grill thermometer was reading 850+ degrees and had cracked, the stainless hood had completely discolored and was too hot to open without a glove (the handle is also stainless) and the tinfoil and wood chips had literally been incinerated. Additionally, when I went to turn off the burners using the plastic knobs, one of them had melted where it attached to the metal post and just spun around ineffectively. I went to shut the propane tank off where it sits below the burners and it was so hot I had to use a glove just to turn the tank knob. (I don't know how hot this would have needed to be to cause the tank to explode and I'm happy I didn't have to find out.) I have contacted Lowes to see if they will replace the hood and the knob and to let them know that they should include a warning with this grill. And, all that being said, I have been completely happy with this grill's performance. However, I live in Colorado where the climate is dry and there is little opportunity for rust other than the snow that sits on it in the winter and melts off on a regular basis. The interior is pretty protected from any moisture and the exterior stainless hadn't shown signs of rust.
