Char-Broil Gas Grill Reviews - One stop for reviews of all Char Broil

One stop for reviews of all Char-Broil Brand Gas Grills. With dozens of models of gas grills and global availability, these are amongst the most popular gas grills in the world. Char broil also makes many grills under different brand names.
Char-Broil Urban Infrared Gas Grill (Model #463246909)
The Char-Broil Quantum represents an innovative approach to an inexpensive all infrared gas grill. This unit uses a simple sheet of perforated stainless steel to convert the output of a standard gas burner into infrared energy. This small, patio sized unit has two burners that put out only 20,000 BTUs under 340 square inches of cooking space but can still reach temperatures around 700 degrees F.
Char-Broil Commercial Series 500 Model #463247009
This is a basic gas grill, the most basic of Char-Broil's Commercial Series line. With 4 burners and a side burner you get a well sized and feature grill for around $300USD (sold exclusively at Lowe's though similar models sell else where). The heat output is good and this grill will cook well. Unfortunately it won't cook well for long. The burners on this unit are thin, low grade stainless steel that should last for about 2 to 3 years. Most of the internal components are of the same quality.
Char-Broil 2-Burner Gas Grill (Model #463611809 and #07116120000)
This is one of the bottom of the line for the Char-Broil gas grills. This particular version sells exclusively at Sears Stores. What you get is a single burner, dual zone gas grill. While the heat output of is okay the evenness isn't. On the other hand this grill sells for $1310USD, which is a price that is hard to beat. These days this is the bottom end of gas grills so if this is the most you can afford you may consider it, but don't expect much.
Char-Broil 4-Burner Gas Grill Model #463440109
This is a typical $200 Char-Broil gas grill. Offering 4 main burners and a low powered side burner you get a basic function grill for a low price, but don't plan on it lasting very long. The lightweight cooking grates, burners and burner covers won't take a lot of punishment and will start to corrode early. If you are only interested in a grill with limited cooking performance and don't plan to keep it long then this isn't a bad investment.
Char-Broil Commercial Quantum 3-Burner Gas Grill (Model #463247109)
The Char-Broil Quantum represents an innovative approach to an inexpensive all infrared gas grill. This unit uses a simple sheet of perforated stainless steel to convert the output of a standard gas burner into infrared energy. This unit has three burners that put out only 30,000 BTUs under 500 square inches of cooking space but can still reach temperatures around 700 degrees F. You also get the standard Char-Broil side burner.
Char-Broil Commercial Quantum Infrared 4-Burner Gas Grill (Model #463247209)
The Char-Broil Quantum represents an innovative approach to an inexpensive (around $500) all infrared gas grill. This unit uses a simple sheet of perforated stainless steel to convert the output of a standard gas burner into infrared energy. This unit has four burners that put out only 40,000 BTUs under 580 square inches of cooking space but can still reach temperatures around 700 degrees F. You also get the standard Char-Broil side burner "oven" with griddle.
Char-Broil RED 3-Zone Infrared Grill (Model #463250509)
This redesigned follow up to last years 3-Zone Red is a little smaller and cuts back on metal to bring it in for $150 less (sells for around $450). Sold exclusively by Home Depot, this grill is basically a gas fired metal box that heats up to very high temperatures. Because the food is separated from the burners flare-ups are very rare. If you cook very fatty foods, like beef ribs, and heat the grill up to maximum the grease can ignite and cause a pretty spectacular flare-up.
Char-Broil Quickset 2-Burner Gas Grill (Model #463741209)
This is the bottom of the line for the Char-Broil gas grills. This particular version sells exclusively at Lowes Stores. What you get is a single burner, dual zone gas grill. While the heat output of is okay the evenness isn't. On the other hand this grill sells for $130USD, which is a price that is hard to beat. These days this is the bottom end of gas grills so if this is the most you can afford you may consider it, but don't expect much.
Char-Broil Commercial with Rotisserie (Model #47362324818)
This is one gas grill with everything to make it look great; lifetime warranty burners, stainless steel construction, four-burner design, high BTU output, rotisserie burner, and a flush mounted side burner unit. Unfortunately is is far more appearance than substance. This Char-Broil gas grill uses low quality stainless steel (430 Series) including the burners burners and the overall construction is weak. Like many Char-Broil grills it looks good on the showroom floor, but won't last.
Char-Broil 4-Burner Stainless Steel (model #463420508)
This is the bottom of the "stainless steel" grills. For around $260 you can buy this Char-Broil grill from Home Depot that features the Char-Broil side burner/oven with griddle. Unfortunately, this grill uses the lowest quality stainless steel and metal as thin as you can buy. The question is, why would you want to buy this grill. I can bend the lid with my hands so this is as fragile grill as you can find. Like many Char-Broil grills it looks good on the showroom floor, but won't last.
Char-Broil RED 4-Zone Infrared Grill (Model #463250308)
This low cost infrared gas grill is the deluxe version of the Char-Broil RED. On one hand, you might say that this grill is little more than a gas fired box that roasts instead of grills. On the other hand this grill can hit temperatures of nearly 700 degrees and almost never flares-up. The design of this grill lets it cook between low and slow barbecue and steak searing temperatures. On the down side this grill uses low quality stainless steel and plastic parts that might limit its durability.
Char-Broil RED 3-Burner Infrared Grill (Model# 463250108)
Perhaps the most innovative mass market grill on the market this year (2008), the Char-Broil RED is a low cost, all infrared gas grill. Cynically you might say that this grill is little more than a gas fired box that roasts instead of grills. On the other hand this grill can hit temperatures of nearly 700 degrees F. and almost never flares-up. The design of this grill lets if cook between low and slow barbecue and steak searing temperatures.
Char-Broil/TEC Series Triple Burner Gas Grill (Model #463268307)
This is the biggest grill of the year (2007). No. Not the biggest seller, not by a long shot, but it is going to be the most asked and talked about grill on the market. The bottomline is, its okay. Not bad actually. The overall construction is weak, but the parts are pretty durable and the technology is good. Of course there are questions about this grill that won't really get answered for another year or two (see below).
Char-Broil Patio Caddie Gas Grill Review
Char-Broil Patio Caddie Gas Grill Review - This is Char-Broil's answer for the grill who just doesn't have a lot of space or wants a gas grill, but doesn't want to grill a lot of food. The Patio Caddie is a full height grill that takes up only 28 inches. It's one burner gives you enough heat to do most grilling tasks but with only 187 square inches of grilling space you won't be able to do to much. But then, that's the point, right?
