Beef Tri-Tip on a Charcoal Grill

This simple beef tri-tip roast is perfect for many uses. Grill it up, low and slow, and serve it as it is, or cut it up for fajitas, tacos, enchiladas or anything else that calls for a flavorful meat.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 1 hour

Total Time: 1 hour, 15 minutes

Yield: Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds tri-tip roast
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Preparation:

Lightly oil the cooking grate on your grill. Preheat grill and prepare for indirect grilling. Combine garlic powder, onion powder, pepper and salt. Rub it over the surface of the tri-tip roast. Place tri-tip on grill, fat side up. You can place a drip pan under it to catch the drips which will make a great gravy later. With the grill on low cook for about 1 hours or until it reaches your desires doneness.

Yummy tri-tp, Member doctbird

I used this simple recipe as a base for my dinner this evening. The only thing I added was a cup of marinade that I injected with the syringe that came with my turkey fryer. The mixture was 50% water and 50% tequilla. I then seared the meat on the grill and just followed the recipe. There was little leftovers....
