By Mike Renchko

Mike Renchko sent me this great recipe for a thick, sweet, barbecue sauce that has a fantastic flavor. This barbecue sauce works great on pork and poultry.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 30 minutes

Yield: Makes about 3 1/2 cups

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 3/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoon garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoon grated lemon rind
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander, optional

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer for 15 - 20 minutes, uncovered. Cool. Store, covered in refrigerator for up to a month. Makes about 4 cups. Use on your favorite meat. Best suited for pork or poultry.

Disappointing results, Member Dr_Noo

Just finished grilled pork steaks with this recipe and my wife and I were very disappointed. The sauce never thickened and about all we could taste was lemon. The maple flavor remained hidden as well the other most of the other ingredients. If you're looking for the maple, this sauce doesn't deliver. No name bbq sauce offers more flavor.
