This is a sweet and sticky sauce to be applied to ribs, grilled or smoked, shortly before they are finished. This keeps the sugar in the sauce from burning while letting the sauce form a rich glaze over the surface of the meat.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 35 minutes

Total Time: 50 minutes

Yield: Makes about 3 cups

  • 1 cup Jack Daniel's Whiskey
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • salt and pepper to taste

Combine ingredients in a saucepan and mix well. Simmer for 20 minutes then allow to cool. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. If you make it a few days in advance the flavors will have more time to blend together.

Jack Daniel's Rib Glaze Variation;, Member Mr.HappyBrain

I kept the recipe as-is except for I skipped adding salt and replaced with 2 tblsp. Kikkoman soy sauce and also added 1 tblsp. Liquid Smoke. It seemed to lack a little bite (for my own taste) so I then added 1-1/2 tblsp. of McCormick Cajun Seasoning, but I think 2 tsp. Tabasco would be fine as well. It turned out fantastic with just the right zip on the top-end, with a nice, rich bottom-end.
