  3. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium-high heat for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring often.

  4. Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for an additional 25 to 28 minutes.

  5. Remove from heat and let the sauce cool completely to room temperature before placing it into an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days after initial preparation. Rewarm before using.
