Recalls: Grills, Barbecues and Smokers
The following products have been recalled by the manufacturer do to safety issues at the request of the U.S. Government's Consumer Products Safety Commission. If you have one of these products follow the accompanying link to find information on who to contact about getting a replacements or repairs.- Perfect Flame Double Lid Four Burner Gas Grills Lucas Innovation is recalling it's Perfect Flame branded double lid gas grill sold exclusively through Lowe's Home Improvement Stores. This is a complete recall of 24,000 gas grills. The cooking chamber of this grill may burn or melt causing serious injury and property damage. 175 fires and 25 cases of grills melting have been reported. This grill can not be repaired and you are asked to return the grill to the nearest Lowes store for a complete refund.
- Char-Broil 2-Burner Gas Grill Char-Broil is recalling the approximately 400 grills sold exclusively through Mills Fleet Market Stores between February and April 2008. The burner installed in this grill (single burner unit with two controls) is the wrong size, does not fit correctly and could cause a gas leak. Owners are urged to stop using the grill until a replacement burner can be sent to replace the incorrect burner in this grill.
- Perfect Flame 4-Burner Gas Grill The Sagittarius Sporting Goods Group and L G Sourcing announce the recall of Lowe's Brand Perfect Flame 4-Burner Gas Grill, Model #2518SL sold between September 2006 and February 2007. Some models may be missing the hose connecting the manifold to the side burner assembly. This could lead to a fire.
- Char-Broil Two-Burner Gas GrillChar-Broil is recalling its 2-burner Model 463720407. This unit was sold exclusively through Big Lots Stores Between January 2007 and March 2007. An missing heat shield may cause a fire and gas leak. No injuries have been reported.
- Weber Genesis 320 Gas Grills The Weber-Stephen Products Company announces a recall of its S-320, EP-320 and E-320 Genesis series gas grills. The fuel hose leading to the side burner ma be damaged during shipping. 49 units have bee reported damages out of nearly 14,000 units shipped. These grills were sold between November 2006 and February 2007.
- John Deere Branded Gas Grills Onward Manufacturing Company is recalling grills is makes under the John Deere brand name models HR-BG6203 and HR-BG5202. Fire may be blown in behind the control panel during high winds causing the control panel to become excessively hot. There is one reported injury among the approximately 3,100 units sold. These units were sold between March and August of 2006.
- Nexgrill Stainless Steel Gas Grill Nexgrill is recall its model 720-0025 gas grill sold between December 2003 and March 2005. The gas hose can melt causing a serious fire. Injuries have been reported.
- Masterbuilt Electric Smokehouse Smoker Masterbuilt is recalling its electric smokers models ESQ30B and ESQ30S sold between July 2005 and May 2006. Smoke producing wood chips can spontaneously burst into flames when the door is opened.
- Barbeques Galore Turbo Sport Portable Infrared LP Gas Grill Model IR600 of Barbeques Galore's portable infrared grill is being recalled to replace a faulty regulator that can cause fires or explosions. This affects units sold between August 2004 and August 2005
- Aussie Gas Grill Meco Corp. Manufactured Aussie Gas Grills (Various Models) are being recalled to replace a faulty regulator. This affects units sold between December 2003 and December 2004.
- Brinkmann Brand and Brinkmann Made Charmglow Gas Grills All Brinkmann Brand Gas Grills and the Charmglow Gas Grills made by Brinkmann and sold between January 2005 and September 2005 have a faulty regulator that can leak.
- Charmglow® Gas Grills by Nexgrill All Charmglow Gas Grills made by Nexgrill (they have the side burner) are being recalled because the hose is too close to the firebox and can melt under high temperatures. These units were sold through Home Depot Stores between November 2004 and June 2005.
- Coleman® Gas Grills and Patio Heaters Coleman is recalling virtually all of its gas grills sold in the United States between January 2004 and July 2005 to repair faulty regulators.
- Jenn-Air Model 720-0100 Natural Gas Outdoor Gas Grills The Jenn-Air Gas Grills natural gas version sold through Lowes between April 2004 and May 2004 may not have the hose connecting the source to the grill's manifold.
- Cheftech Signature Series Grill This Advanced Catalyst Systems grill built by CSPS of China was sold in Knoxville prior to March 17, 2005. Wind can cause the control panel to overheat and damage the valve assembly.
- Five-burner Vermont Castings Gas Grills Burners on these models of Vermont Castings Grills may not fit properly and can cause gas leakage and fires.
- Beefmaster Explorer Outdoor Gas Grill by Nexgrill This is a small stainless steel portable gas grill. The recall is on a safety label that can become difficult to read.
- Char-Broil® Gas Grills Temperature guage on Char-Broil grills sold in 2002 and 2003 can burst causing cuts.
- Bakers & Chefs®, Members Mark® and Kenmore models Gas Barbecue Grills More of the infamous temperature gauges. The glass on these units can burst. Affects these grills sold in 2001 and 2002 through Sam's Club and Sears.
- Marshall Gas Controls Regulator The regulator on many models of grills sold under the name Char-Broil, Thermos and Kenmore can leak propane. Affects units sold in 2003
- Member's Mark® Gas Grills This affects about 50,000 grills sold through Sam's Club. A metal cover under the control panel can cause cuts or lacerations of the hand when you reach down for the valve on your propane tank. These grills were sold in 2000 and 2001.
- Summit Gas Grills and Vieluxe Gas Grills This is another recall on the glass in the hood thermometer and affects many models of Weber Grills sold in 2002 and 2003.
- Great Outdoors "Horizon" Gas Grills This affects the Great Outdoors grill models GH450SBP and GH450XBP. Wind blowing can cause heat to build up under the control panel and melt the hoses. These grills were sold through True Value stores in the spring over 2003.
- 60 Second Grill Express Sometimes labeled "GRILL EXPRESS BY CTC" these small indoor grills may have a bad heating element. Sold from October 1994 to January 1995.
- Brinkmann and Cook n' Cajun Water Smokers Like all water smokers of this design the vent in the bottom could leak burning coals. Units sold since 1974.
- Brinkmann Smoke n' Pit This is on the smokestacks on these units sold between November 1992 and March 1994.
- Char-Broil Table Top Gas Grills Model 1200 sold between January 1992 and March 1996.
- Char-Broil Water Smoker The hole in the bottom could led to a fire on these units sold since March 1993.
- Coleman 2000 and 3000 Gas Grills The metal shield under the grill can cause lacerations when you try to turn on or off the main tank valve. Contact Coleman for a repair kit.
- Meco Smoker Grills Various models sold since 1983. This unit can drop hot coals through the bottom.
- Flat Rock Grills Shoreline Series 2000 and 3000 gas grills sold between July 1999 and July 2002.
- Red Devil Grill These grills sold through infomercials and retail outlets can easily tip over during use.
- Red Devil Grill All units sold through Wal-Mart. The manufacturer is out of business. There are multiple reports of user injuries from this unit.
- Rival Electric Crock Grill Model 5740 sold between January 1990 and December 1993.
- Sunbeam Grillmaster Gas Grills Various models with side burners (It's the side burner that's the problem). Sold between January 1996 and July 1998.
- Thermos Gas Grills Various Models shipped January 24 and March 21, 1991. See link for more details.
- Tru-Burn Portable LP Gas Grills Sold between February 1996 and August 1998.
- Williams-Sonoma Portable Gas Grills Model #15-3597291 is a small $200 Gas Grill sold during the early part of 2000.
Accessories
- SCG Liquid Propane Overfill Protection Devices The overfill protection device on these propane cylinders can leak. Units sold with some Sunbeam grills and in department stores in 2002 and 2003.
- Keanall Products Deluxe Grill Rocks These pyramid ceramic briquettes have a tendency to explode under intense heat. Sold between January 1998 and April 1998.
- Rotarex and Worthington Gas Grill Cylinders Bad valves on propane tanks made by these companies need to be replaced. Bought or exchanged since April 1997.
