If your cooking with fire then you need to have a fire extinguisher handy and know how to use it.
Difficulty Level: easy Time Required: 5 minutes
Here's How:
- Hold extinguisher upright.
- Remove plastic safety tie from handle.
- Pull pin from handle.
- Aim nozzle low.
- Hold firmly and squeeze handle (this is where it starts spraying).
- Point stream at the base of the fire and move in, staying a safe distance.
- Sweep stream across the base of the fire.
- Continue spraying and sweeping until the fire is completely out.
- Replace or recharge your extinguisher at the earliest opportunity.
- Always remember PASS; that's Pull, Aim, Squeeze and Sweep.
- Keep your fire extinguisher handy but never too near the potential fire.
