There's no much new in the way of smokers this year. The biggest news is probably that the W.C. Bradley (makers of Char-Broil) owned New Braunfels Smokers Company has closed its Texas production facility. They say this is because of high domestic production costs. The 90,000 square foot facility in Texas this year and lay off some 170 employees. Production will be shifted to the Georgia facility and outside the United States.
In other smoker news, The Iron Works has introduced a new stainless steel, gas fired smoker/cooker. This unit has over 8 square feet of cooking space and a 2-pound smoke box that can produce smoke for up to 2 hours. It comes with 4 adjustable racks, an adjustable damper and full temperature control. Billed as a professional smoker for the backyard, this unit will cost you about $500.
