Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet, makers of the best (and most expensive) gas grills on the market, recently introduced their new Gaucho charcoal/hardwood grill. Based on the traditional Santa Maria style grill, this unit features a large wheel used to raise and lower the cooking grate over the coal fire below to regulate temperatures. The fire itself is started by a built in gas burner so there is now need to lighter fluids or a charcoal chimney. The cooking grate can be removed and replaced with a rotisserie system and ashes are collected below for easy clean out.
The Gaucho Grill is hand made in Kalamazoo, Michigan from all 304 stainless steel. There will be two freestanding and one built in model. Prices will range in the area between $17,000 and $21,000 and will start shipping in May, but if you want one (and have the money) I would put that order in now.
