Barbecue and Politics

Since before the birth of the United States, Barbecue has played a significant role in politics. From the first barbecues of the colonial period to today, politicians have lined up to entice voters with food and to show that they can eat like the rest of us. As America's unique culinary tradition barbecue has been served after stump speeches, used to draw crowds, or demonstrate a how everyday a candidate can be. Anyway you look at it, barbecue is an integral part of the political process.
