We've all gotten used to the idea of grilling up some chicken or chops on a Tuesday evening, but every year there are those big cookout days; holidays when nearly everyone fires up the grill or smoker to cook for family and friends. These are the times when we show off our best recipes and dish up some delicious barbecue. So this weeks question is about these special, nearly formal cookouts when our reputations are on the line and hungry people gather around to see what we have on the grate. So:
POLL: What do you cook for the big cookout?
1) Brisket
2) Burgers and Dogs
3) Chicken
4) Fish and Seafood
5) Pulled Pork
6) Ribs
7) Rotisserie Roasts

I enjoy good ‘ol American standards for the Independence Day feast like cheeseburgers or BBQ ribs, but I like to change it up sometimes and have hot Italian sausage with peppers, or a good German style Brat, marinated first in beer, then grilled slowly to perfection. You can also parboil the Brats in onions and beer first, and then finish them off on the grill. My family did that last year and it tasted awesome!
I grill shish-ka-bobs, meat & veg
My dad went to the butcher shop and bought an uncured ham and grilled it. We had an old hickory tree in the back yard. The last half hour of grilling, he added some bark he had soaked overnight in water to smoke the meat. The ham shank had the best flavor you could imagine.
I like marinating tritip beef roast for large gatherings. It’s a great sliced meat for most anything. If there’s any left over tritip makes great fajitas.
I enjoy grilling of fish and seafood. Thanks for sharing this ideas.
We had planned on doing burgers and dogs, when my wife told me there was a request for pulled pork. Yahoo!
Always do something pork usually a shoulder, or StL ribs. Wife makes her potato salad and have some friends over.
