Derrick,
Good post – as a professional BBQ cleaner I agree with your point #1. I come across BBQ’s that have never been cleaned and have a bucket full of soot and grease in the bottom of them. I find the grills that have been cleaned regularly (at last once a year) are the easiest to clean and in the best condition.
Being in the BBQ grill business for 20 plus years I know ash is a large contribution to deteratioration with charcoal grills. The big factors for a gas grills is the salts, grease and then add the heat will take a toll on any gas grill and especially an inexpensive BBQ grill. If you will stick with high quality material you will not have to replace parts every other year but you will have pay a little more up front. Happy grilling and have a great 4th of July.
