The biggest turkey day of the year is nearly upon us and millions of Americans and scrambling to figure out the best recipe, cooking method, and secret tricks to making the best turkey yet. Personally I believe in a good brine regardless of how you are cooking your bird. However they kind of cooker the turkey goes in is going to be the biggest influence on the taste. I know that most everyone uses the oven to cook their Thanksgiving turkey and that's fine. But there are those of us out there willing to try out the smoker, grill or fryer to cook up our big meal. So this weeks question is:
POLL: How are you cooking your Turkey this Year?
1) Oven Roasting

Preparing it in The Big Easy oil-less infrared ‘fryer’ dude!
Going to try the orion cooker
I’m using The Big Easy turkey fryer, too!
Decided to use the good old Farberware electric grill with the optional rotisserie. It is reliable, and pretty much set and forget vs the outside gas grill in the cold and snow and wind. Our indoor oven will be busy with other things.
I’m smoking the turkey this year.
The Big Easy again!
Been doing the holiday bird on my WSM since I got it. Tastes great, and frees up the oven for dressing and green bean casserole!!
I’m using a “Caja China” (China Box)this year.
This box generates a tremendous amount of heat and cooks the food very fast. Last year it took less than 4 hrs to roast a 108 lbs hog. The pork was so well cooked that it was falling off the bone. A Turkey should take only about 45 mins. to a hour. I’ll be able to slept late and not miss any of the games.
I’ll be cooking my turkey in the SRG (Smoker / Roaster/Grill) by Char Broil. As good as a deep fried (in oil) bird without the oil and hazards!
