Introduced last year, MAK Grills is the latest player in the pellet market. Made in the USA (about 50 miles away from where Traeger used to make there grills), MAK Grills recently picked up BBQ Legend Bruce Bjorkman as it's director of Marketing and Public Relations. Now anyone in the know would wonder if MAK Grills isn't picking up US manufacturing where Traeger left off when they shipped their manufacturing of their residential grills (read smokers) off to China.
Well, aside from the politics, I think we are all more interested in the grills. Right now you have one model to choose from the MAK Grill 2-Star General. This $2,000 grill gives you 429 square inches in the main chamber and 285 square inches in the warmer box. You can add extra space with an upper grate in the main chamber giving you 858 square inches, so this isn't a little unit. Like most pellet cookers these days you get a computer controlled feeder unit to maintain temperature. This looks to be a good unit giving you a pretty wide range of features. In fact this unit is loaded with a number of unique features that certainly make it competitive in the pellet market.
