First Look: Blue Ember iQue
Monday May 12, 2008
Very recently Fiesta Gas Grills introduced the newest of its Blue Ember line, the iQue 650. This promises to be the first "digital" grill. With built in temperature sensors, computer controlled valves and a timer unit this grill can be preset to cook a wide range of foods from shrimp to steaks. The grill will even turn down the heat when food is done. There is even a sonar based fuel indicator that tests your propane level every 30 seconds and tells you how much more cooking time you have before you need to replace the tank. If you are interested Fiesta has posted a Commercial on YouTube.
Fiesta promises that this grill is (read "will be") available through Sear's, Lowes, Home Depot and many other retail outlets.

Hey Derrick, my family loves to tailgate at travel league baseball games in places where electric power is not convenient or not even available. Does Blue Ember IQue offer any alternatives to powering it’s “digital” grill? Thanks!
I love the idea of when my food’s cooked (+ the safety net of ‘auto-low’ when it IS done) & who *doesn’t* want the mystery of the fuel level eliminated..? But please: don’t anchor me with a power cord or make me buy batteries (that I then must dispose of properly). These 2 things would, w/o question, be a deal breaker.
Awesome stuff! Great features, this thing is loaded. it’s good to see a new grill that has something new other than painted metal. Any idea what the price is?
hOW IS THIS GRILL POWERED, SOMETHING MUST LIGHT IT ALL UP, CHIME, ETC.. I HOPE IT IS A PORTABLE GRILL, WE MOVE OUR AROUND, CAN I MOVE THIS ONE TOO?
Any idea when it will hit the stores?? I was planning on getting the Fiestas Blue Ember that is in the stores now but wondering if I should hold off and HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
Word is that this unit will be in Lowes stores some time in August and will sell for around $900.
To use the iQue system, the grill will need to be powered. The upside for all the Blue Ember models is that the grill has two additional outlets on the rear for small appliances (like a blender, food processor, etc).
It does allow more prep to happen at the grill and not in the kitchen, so less mess.
Regarding availability, Grills should be entering the market within the next few weeks. Definitely before July 4.
I am stoked about this grill!.. I intend to be the first person in my neighborhood with it. I’ve seen a larger model on “youtube” that’s not on the “lows” site. And for those who “tailgate” you can always buy a power converter that plugs into the lighter and buy the solar battery charger to keep battery charged. lcd shouldn’t use that much power but the rotisserie should use a little, everything else is gas. Or just have and additional batter wired in (Marine battery). They do this sometime for car audio, to run amps which pulls a lot of power.
