Derrick's Barbecues & Grilling BlogGrate Chef Fire Starters You've probably seen Grate Chef's Grill Wipes dangling on hooks in the barbecue line of your hardware or grocery store. Personally I like the Grill Wipes. Anyway, Mike Griffin, founder of Grate Chef has introduced a new fire starter. This small packet it pretty typical of these kinds of charcoal lighters. It uses a paraffin wax saturated core to burn long enough to get your charcoal going. What makes this different from other, all natural, fire starters is the packaging. The Grate Chef Fire Stater has a water proof, combustible shell that allows for a more liquid core. These fire starters burn fast and hot (they say it burns hot enough to start a wood fire). I tried it on charcoal and found it much more effective than the compressed paper of sawdust fire starters on the market.
You should be able to find these in most stores that sell charcoal. A pack of 6 will run you about $3USD. Photo © 2008 Grate Chef, LLC. Tuesday March 25, 2008 | comments (1) Display Latest Headlines | powered by WordPress |
