Grill in the jacuzzi

Friday September 7, 2007
charlesfernie asks:

"My Dad has a brand new Weber Summit S-450. He hasn't used it even once yet. This afternoon in a windy squall, the grill was blown and rolled INTO his jacuzzi. There was a loud crash and when we arrived on the patio there it was, upside down, sinking like the Titanic into the spa. We got it out immediately (less than 60 seconds after the crash), but it had been completely submerged. The jacuzzi has one of those "salt water" systems, so that can't be good. I am going to rinse the whole thing off, inside and out, with fresh water. Does anyone have any other suggestions, or can anyone tell me what damage I can expect? Weber says it should continue to work, but may have to be started manually, and it will probably discolor sooner rather than later. Talk about a ridiculous situation to be in and a really stupid accident!"
