While it isn't an official announcement yet, Char-Broil's website claims that the company will introduce in 2006 the first Liquid Propane (LP)/Natural Gas dual fuel gas grill. With this slightly cryptic statement, Char-Broil is once again innovating the Gas Grill industry:
"The first grill to have truly easy-to-convert Liquid Propane to Natural Gas grill capability - fewer SKUs at retail while giving the consumer the ability to change their fuel source."
At this point the details are limited but obviously Char-Broil intends to ship some or all of its gas grill with the ability to work from either fuel. While the average consumer probably won't notice the feature, the retailer can reduce inventory by purchasing one dual fuel grill versus two grills with either option. This will be a great advantage to the retailer as long as they system presents no barriers to the consumer and does not increase returns or service problems.
Expect a formal announcement from Char-Broil later this year.
