Steaks cooked on infrared burner

Tuesday March 15, 2005
bbqgalore Writes:

"A few people have asked about infrared burners for cooking. I've mentioned our Barbeques Galore Turbo Sport before, but I had the opportunity to cook our dinner on it tonight, so I thought I'd document the experience for you all.

(The situation: late getting home from work, wife hadn't started dinner yet, so rather than fire up the full size gas grill, decided to give the Turbo Sport a shot. I have one for evaluation, and this will be only the third time I've tried it out. First time was plain hot dogs, second time was some kind of beef "filet" product I wouldn't quite call a steak...)

Procedure: put the polska kielbasa on first, let it char and cook on Low, then moved it aside. Cranked it to High, seared the steaks, then back to Low to finish cooking.

Well, a picture is worth a thousand words. One note: my wife prefers medium rare, I opt for medium. I think I nailed it! :)"
