"I just purchased a Grand Classic grill from Costco and am having it delivered in a few days. At $1249, it is absolutely beautiful and has all the bells and whistles (1140 square inch cooking area, 5-12,000 BTU burners, 10,000 BTU rotisserire, 2-12,000 BTU side burners, all stainless steel with tons of drawers and cabinets) of a grill that would typically cost at minimum, a few thousand dollars.
However, after researching the company that manufactured this grill, I've learened it's a product by Nexgrill. I've not heard about this company prior to today, and understand that this grill is manufactured in China.
Does anyone own this grill in particular, or any grill by Nexgrill? I've not read alot of positive reviews on their customer service/response or anything they've manufactured. At this point, I'm just banking on the fact that 1) Costco usually sells good products and 2) Costco's return policy is second to none. However, we are in the process of doing our landscaping and are having this unit builtin. If it doesn't workout, it will be next to impossible to find a replacement with the same measurements...
Needless to say, I'm a little leary and am wondering if I should cancel this purchase before my grill is delivered!!
It is so beautiful, but is it too good to be true? Any information you can provide or recent reviews that you can direct me to would be much appreciated."

We got the same one – the 4th burner dial had some issue with the hose connection, leaked gas and almost burned up our whole grill – the side grill didn’t work and the new gas connector leaked also – we used it 3 or 4 times and returned it.
Yes I have the same grill purchaced in July 2006 and the grill cover has cracks all over it and needs to be replaced. And the side burrner will not lite with-out a match.
has hot spots been trying to make it work right for years the only reason that I still have it is because it looks great
I’ve owned this unit for three years now. I think I paid around $1,225.00 for it. When I got mine I had PG&E convert it to natural gas (they did it for free!) It only cost about $70.00 for the natural gas hardware. The unit has everything that the units at Bar-B-Qs Galore, costing $4,000.00 to $5,000.00, have. Costco has stopped selling these units years ago and has replaced them with grills that have the pot metal type burners. The outsides look great, but when you look inside them, they are cheaply constructed and have burners that will burn out in no time at all. It was one of the “Costco type things” where they have something offered that it truly a fantastic bargain, but after they sell them all, they never, ever get them in again.
I have had the grill for 2 years. My first one was returned before it got out of the box due to a construction flaw that was evident as I unpacked it. The second one I’ve had to redo the pulley for the spit and replace the motor. The unit is too big for the 60k butanes and it takes a long time to heat up and cook items. Dont consider it for every day bbqueing where you have a small meal to cook. But for large meals, it works well enough.
The cover that comes with it absolutely sucks after 2 years and I’ve had to buy a new one.
Overall, I guess you get what you pay for. Would I buy another one? No way. But then again, I wouldn’t buy a replacement one at $4000 either.
After making some changes to my Grand Classic Grill, I am a very happy owner again. I was not happy with my Grand Classic because of flare ups caused by grease on the bricks and the drip catch located just under the burners. But after some adjustments, I am happy now. All grills really need to be designed with a large space under the burners and the grilling surface needs to have some space from the burners as well. The Grand Classic fell short on both accounts. To correct this, I removed the diamond brick assemblies and smoker tray (I left enough metal to secure the face of the smoker tray back to the grill) and then laid 10 stainless steel Flavorizer Bars. Lowe’s has adjustable flavorizer bars $12 each, but you can order to length from Amazon for a fraction of the price. They should fit short as they will expand during cooking. Don’t go with 5 as the width will cause the angle to be less steep and you will still have flare ups. Stainless can be bent, but porcelain cannot. Steep is the key to stopping the fires. This not only corrected the flare ups, but the grill heats up much faster and the heat distribution is very even across the grill surface. As for the drip catch, it will have to be kept clean to prevent it from catching fire. As for the cheap grill cover that tore to shreds when the temperature dropped, I ordered a heavy duty one that looks the same as when I bought it. I got it from MELS BBQ COVERS from the net. It sold for $40 back then. This grill has plenty of BTU when using the flavorizer bars. It now gets up to temperature fast.
good grill converted to gas works good but the cover they sell doesn’t last but about two years. the cold weather cracks the covering and at that price they should get a clue.
