Lowe's Char Broil Commercial series

"I'm looking for a new grill to replace my trusty old Charmglow, many times rebuilt. Lowe's has what seems to be a new all stainless Charl Broil "Commercial Series" for $499. I don't even see the ss version on Lowe's web site it must be so new. Anyone out there have experience with it? They even have 2 natural gas models in stock. Interesting that on the tag on the back, it says it is not for commercial use!"

After much shopping, talking and comparing, chose Char Broil Commercial. Asked many questions of the assemblers at Lowe’s (and other stores checked too) and the last one was ‘which one would you purchase’ after putting them all together. He chose Char Broil Commercial and sited hinges, cast iron cooking grates and ‘they seem to be built more sturdy than others’. The only thing that bothers me is the quality of the so called stainless steel. A magnet will stick to it…on the better quality (read more $$$) ones the magnet won’t stick…304 stainless. Used it for the first time last night and it did very well. Lots of heat, nice sear marks. The whole unit needs to be ‘tweaked’ as the assembly is a little shoddy but in a week or two we should have all the kinks worked out. Over all, nice grill for the money. Compared BTU’s in grill and side burner. Chose also by most BTUs for the money NOT including side burner BTU’s. Some of them try to trip you up by includind side burner BTUs in overall BTU size/rating. Watch out if you want lots of grill heat. Has brass burners with lifetime warranty, too. Wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. Switched from Sunbeam after 30 years…and used this one every night. Had minor replacement of parts once or twice. New ones are junk. Good luck with your new grill.

I got my Char-Broil commercial grill as a Father’s Day present 8 years ago.I use it mostly in the summer months, now it is time to replace the burners.Lowes does not stock these parts and on line i’m looking at 28 bucks a burner I need three plus other parts I have not reshearched yet. Char-Broil makes these look good on the outside but the parts are junk on the inside. Never again will I buy a Char-Broil. Dave B

(4) Mr. Flex's Daddy says:

Mr. Flex is expecting waaaay too much for the amount of money he spent on his charbroil. For 500 bucks (probably cheaper 8 years ago), eight years before you have to replace burners is quite exceptional. If he expects a longer lasting unit, he should buy a Weber ($800-$2500). Plus, i’m not so sure the higher end burners would last much longer.
