Propane tank?

"I have a older propane tank that hasn't been used in about 10 years. It has been empty the whole time. I would like to use this for the body of my smoker. Has anyone done this before? What considerations should I take. I plan to fill it with compressed air and vent it several times and then fill with water before any cutting takes place. What else should I be concerned with?"
