Advice Needed BBQ Gurus

"I started out this summer with a Brinkman Gorment Smoker/Grill and realized after the second attempt I could not get the temp high enough nor control it over long periods of time to finish anything in the smoker. So, I have been considering 2 smokers recommended by Tom and Dan, the WSM and the BBQ Galore offset model. I am leaning towards the BBQ Galore model with costs $199.00. I plan on performing the mods recommended by Dan.

Well, tonight I happened upon a New Braunfels Silver Smoker at a local Home Depot, the price was $148.00. It appears the smoker has been outside since spring and there are a few screws from the wooden shelf missing but, the smoker looks fine otherwise. So I went inside and asked whether they would be willing to knock a few bucks off the price. The manager came to me and said they would take 20% off. That makes the price of the smoker $118.40. So, do you BBQ gurus think this is a "no brainer deal" or should I just get the BBQ Galore model? I have only seen pictures of the BBQ Galore model so I could not make a comparison in terms of quality. Would these two smokers function the same with the recommended mods. If I purchase a BBQ Galore model I would have to order it from the interent or drive to the closest BBQ Galore which is three hours away in Maryland. But for good barbecue I am willing to make the sacrifice!"
