Homebuilt smoker coming right along

"My little stove firebox is now mated to my meat chamber. It wasn't too hard. A good plasma torch and an industrial MIG welder helped a lot. I now have an idea. The arrangement of the forebox and tank is pretty standard. The stovepipe enters the meat chamber through the lower half of the tank end and a smoke exit stack is added to the top half of the other end of the tank. OK. What if I extend the input stack pipe the entire length of the tank (meat chamber) but perforate this extension with a whole bunch of one-inch holes. This would encourage the smoke to find it's way over the meat and out the tank exit stack through a nice long manifold which extends over the entire bottom length of the tank. I think I'll try it. If this arrangement discourages enough of a draft to keep the firebox burning then I'll remove the extension. If anyone's interested, I'll let you know how it turned out. I'm getting impatient about firing this puppy up!"
