"I am seriously considering a Traeger grill. I currently use a Weber Silver A, and love how it grills my New Yorks & Rib Eyes. Those of you who have a Traeger...are you satisfied with the grilling performance?"

You will not regret getting a Traeger grill. Wether you like jerky, tri-tip or your New Yorks and Rib-eyes. Grilling usually takes a little longer but the taste it is well worth the wait!
You will need some time to get used to differences between Tragering and regular grilling but it is worth it. The biggest difference I’ve found is that you can’t open the hood very often because you lose too much heat and extend the grilling time. So you don’t want to use recipes that call for frequent basting. Rubs and basting less often work well. A remote thermometer (Polder makes a good one) helps because it tells you the meat temperature without the hood being open.
i thought i was a good griller,
i never new how wrong i was till i got my treager. Just ask my wife!
I have a treager and I will NEVER go back to charcoal or propane. It is absolutely the best grill I ever owned. I even made halibut and it came out moist. I will use it for Thanksgiving next week.
I just got a treager lil tex last week and have cooked on it everyday since the purchase. I am already starting to understand the cooking differnces and have been making adjustments in cook tech. You are right try to leave the cover closed for more even cooking, if you buy a treager you will never go back. Happy grilling!
